The hotel's location was unbeatable, just a stone's throw away from the train station and a plethora of shops, restaurants, and attractions. Our family thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city and taking in the breathtaking view of the castle and gothic tower from our room. Additionally, the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more pleasant.
My wife says that she wished the hotel had more soundproofing in the rooms, especially for families with children.

I chose to stay at Old Waverley for its proximity to Arthur's Seat hike, but the stunning views of Edinburgh's skyline from the Abbotsford Room bar pleasantly surprised me. The fine selection of Scottish whiskies and cocktails made for a delightful evening.
Central location so noisy. No double/triple glazing.

The location was mega convenient, smack bang in the heart of Edinburgh. We could easily walk to see the UK Who fans jamming with an orchestra, and then the next day, we caught The Edinburgh Easter Play - talk about an epic experience! The staff were totally sound and the breakfast set us up perfectly for the day.
All we'd ask for next time is a more lively vibe in the hotel, with fun activities for young party-goers like us.

The hotel has a fantastic location, with convenient access to the main train station, tram line from the airport, and tourist attractions. Despite being near many tourist traps, the hotel is situated in an area with a good selection of food outlets. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean, and the friendly staff provide excellent service. The breakfast served is delicious and plentiful, with a classic English breakfast in an historic-looking dining room.
The elevator can be slow and requires climbing stairs to access.

The Old Waverley Hotel is perfectly located near the railway station, castle, and various shops and monuments. The views from the dining room and lounge are stunning, and the service is top-notch. Travelling alone, I appreciated the helpful staff who even assisted me in understanding the local currency.
Felt quite safe, with the staff always willing to go the extra mile.

Arriving by bus, we found the Old Waverley perfectly located just a few doors down from Princes Street. With the train station across the street, it was convenient for our departure. The hotel had a Scottish feel to it, which we loved, and the room had a cozy portable heater waiting for us. The view of the monuments and castle from the armchairs by the window was lovely. The bar area was a great place to relax. a traditional yet welcoming hotel.
Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

The convenient location of Old Waverley made it easy for me to explore the nearby attractions. The stunning views from the Abbotsford Room bar added a special touch to my evenings.
Poor quality breakfast and noisy main street.

The standard double room with Princes Street View was just perfect for my solo travels. The breathtaking view made each morning feel special; it was just the cozy space I needed to unwind after a day of exploring Edinburgh.
I personally found the triple room a bit cramped for my liking, but others might find it suitable.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. the location is fantastic, right in the heart of the city centre. It's conveniently situated near Waverley station, making it easy to explore all the sights. Secondly, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. Lastly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, with the added bonus of having great views of the city. this hotel offers great value for money and I would definitely stay here again.
No major issues, everything was more than satisfactory.

We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Old Waverley where we spent a few nights of our honeymoon 49 years ago! The staff throughout made us feel so welcome and were polite, professional, and above all, caring! The central location on Princes St was great for shopping, restaurants, and visiting other attractions. The view from our 6th-floor room was fantastic, and the room itself was spacious and well-equipped with comfy beds. The breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice, and the staff were very helpful. a wonderful experience that we will never forget.

It was super easy to find and right in the heart of the city, within walking distance to all of the main attractions. Plus, the view from the room was breathtaking - I loved waking up to the bustling city streets below.
The noise from the street outside. Being on a busy bus route, it was quite loud throughout the day and night.

The central location of this hotel would be hard to beat. We loved waking up in the morning to the amazing views of the castle and city. The room was clean, and although small, it had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. The staff helped us with our luggage as there is no elevator, which was appreciated. we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay in the heart of the city.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect! Right in the heart of the city, it made it easy for me to explore all the shops and attractions. The room was clean and had everything I needed, including a very comfortable bed. But the best part was the view. I was on the 5th floor and had an amazing view over the Christmas markets, Princes Street, Scott Monument, and all the way to the Castle. The Christmas lights were beautiful. The breakfast was delicious, especially the haggis, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Mr Scott outside my window was a pleasant sight every day. a fantastic stay!
Everything is what I need and want.

I loved the fact that the Hotel was across the road from the train station, offering incredible views of the city, castle, and Christmas market in Princess Gardens. Even though on a main street, noise was minimal allowing for a peaceful stay. The staff was accommodating, allowing us to store luggage after checkout, making exploring landmarks like the Royal Mile and Scott Monument hassle-free. The proximity to various attractions, including Camera Obscura and Arthur's Seat hike, made family bonding effortless, while relaxation was enhanced by the comfortable rooms and helpful services. My daughter and I had a fantastic time at Old Waverley Hotel in Edinburgh, and I can't wait to return, especially during the Christmas market season.

The elegant Cranston restaurant, with its royal icing columns and sunny yellow damask-style wallpaper, certainly lived up to its reputation of serving delightful three-course meals. I felt like royalty dining amidst such regal decor. The oven-baked haddock was a delectable treat fit for a king!
Street noise was disruptive.

Loved the extensive drinks list featuring only the best Scottish whiskies and spirits. The hotel is conveniently located, and the Cranston restaurant serves comforting dishes. The Abbotsford Room Bar & Lounge has a charming mix of Victorian and contemporary decor.
Couldn't find a single thing to complain about. It was all just perfect.
